The “Letep” company was founded fifty years ago in Bormio as an electrotechnical workshop for rewinding electric motors and wiring for small and medium sized electrical switchboards. In the mid Sixties the firm expanded from electrical switchboards into air treatment and heating systems. It has also supplied specialist systems, such as a snow melting machine installed on the glacier to supply water to a refuge over 3000 metres above sea level.
High altitude bivouacs for climers’ shelters, superlight stretchers to transport those injured in the mountains.
As for skis, in 1978 the company patented and started producing its first ski lockers with hot air boot drying. With the support of its in-house design office, it developed aerolic machinery and systems for air treatment for the pharmaceutical, healthcare and tourist industries.

This specialisation will support its parallel business of manufacturing 250 ski and boot lockers spread throughout the Alps paying particular attention to boot drying and sanitation, and the direct extraction of fumes and odours in accordance with Law 626. In 1985, as part of a consortium with other companies, Letup built the scheduled snow-generation system for the famous Stelvio freestyle piste for the Bormio World Cup.
In the early Noughties, the company contributed to the notable development of the ski and boot rental and maintenance storage sector, expanding its business by producing a great range of furnishing components for hotels, serviced apartments And winter sports equipment rental firms.
The vast experience of air filtration and treatment and of the sanitation of premises and components that the company acquired in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector means that the Letop ski box provides its customers with more than a simple container for storing equipment – with their own heating, dring and non-allergenic sanitation systems for boots, ski-boots and helmets for the most disparate sporting activities.
